Laura is in her sixteenth year as vocal music director at Champlin Park High School where her duties include directing Rebel MenBel Canto, and select Varsity and Concert Choirs. Laura also serves as the artistic director for Rebelution, the school’s select co-curricular ensemble. Laura earned her Bachelor of Music degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota and her Master of Education degree from Saint Mary’s University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education with a Choral Conducting emphasis at the University of Saint Thomas.

She was the Vocal Jazz Repertoire and Standards Chair for the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota and served as North Central Jazz Honor Choir coordinator for “A Community That Sings,” the 2010 North Central American Choral Directors Association Division Conference in Minneapolis, with Steve ZegreePhil Mattson, and The Real Group.

Laura is a member of the American Choral Directors AssociationMinnesota Music Educators Association, and the VoiceCare Network.

Michelle is beyond excited to join the Champlin Park High School Vocal Music Department this year and comes to us from Marcy Open School in Minneapolis. Ms. Bendett has taught music at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels since beginning her career in 2000. Previously at Lake Nona High School and Avalon Middle School in Orlando, her choirs consistently earned superior ratings at Music Performance Assessments and were selected to perform at the 2015 State Florida Music Educators Association Clinic-Conference in Tampa and the 2014 Florida American Choral Directors Association Fall Conference. Her choirs have earned state enrollment awards on multiple occasions.

At Champlin Park, Ms. Bendett will conduct the Treble Choir and co-direct Rebel Men, Bel Canto, and Varsity Choir, along with an extracurricular ensemble.

Michelle received her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education degrees from the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Ms. Bendett is an active member of the Minnesota Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association, and serves as a presenter, adjudicator and honor choir clinician.

She lives in St. Paul with her husband and three cats.
