2020 Annual Holiday Performance

We're incredibly proud of the nearly 400 students who worked hard to prepare this performance for our community while navigating myriad challenges in learning and life. On behalf of the Champlin Park High School Vocal Music Association, the Jackson Middle School Music Department, and the Champlin Park High School Vocal Music Department, happy holidays from the Champlin Park music family.

Hope for Resolution

In its juxtaposition of Divinum Mysterium, a 13th century chant melody, and Thula Sizwe, an anti-apartheid song from South Africa, this piece is a celebration of multiplicity, respecting divergent musical styles and pointing us toward our innate potential for peaceful coexistence. The languages are English and Zulu. Since 2001, the choirs of Champlin Park have included Hope for Resolution in each annual holiday performance. Traditionally, alumni are invited to join the choirs.

Thank you for your support of the performing arts at Champlin Park.

Welcome to Champlin Park Vocal Music!

We are the voices of Champlin Park High School, a comprehensive four-year high school serving the northern suburbs of Minnesota's Twin Cities since 1992. Our five principal ensembles--Concert Choir, Treble Choir, Varsity Choir, Bel Canto, and Con Brio--present several concerts each year and are joined by a number of extracurricular ensembles like Rebelution (our amazing vocal jazz group).

Now in our 29th season, we perform unique and challenging repertoire under the direction of Mr. Joshua Palmquist and Ms. Laura Tempel. We've had the opportunity to work with Dr. Ann Howard Jones, Dr. Christopher Aspass, Dr. Lee Nelson, Dr. Galen Darrough, Dr. Edith Copley, and Phil Mattson, among others. We have performed at the MMEA Midwinter Clinic, ACDA Minnesota Fall Convention, and the Choral Arts Finale at Orchestra Hall.

Periodically, we travel to sing somewhere other than Minnesota. In 2018 we toured Chicago and before that, Texas & The Gulf, Colorado & The Rockies, and New Orleans!

We'd love to have you in the audience for an upcoming concert (when we return to the stage!) and showing your support for the performing arts at Champlin Park.
